Crystals have been endowed with mystical powers, used as jewellery, decorated sacred statues and emblems for over 8,000 years.
The Egyptians endowed crystals with healing and magical properties going back to 4500 bc. Tutenkhamen’s funeral mask was decorated with snow quartz, obsidian, lapis lazuli which was considered sacred and endowed the wearer with spiritual sight.
The breast plate of Aaron the High Priest had 12 crystals, one for each of the tribes of Israel.
So the lineage of crystals dating back to the stone age an unbroken link through to today where we are experiencing a revival as some of us seek to discover old wisdoms that have been handed down and refined from the dawn of time.
For many of us rediscovering the power of crystals, they are living things to cleansed powered and used to assist us on our spiritual journey. Their uses and properties are endless from healing to protection to help us to align and power our individual chakras and so much more.
Bringing crystals into your life and your family’s life can bring a whole new dimension in our awareness and enhance what we already have.
When searching for a crystal, allow the crystal to choose you. If you are drawn to a crystal and the crystal feels right to you, then just trust your intuition. You will be really surprised when looking up your crystal’s properties how appropriate that crystal may be to you at that time in your life.
If you are given a particular crystal an a meditation or reading, again look up that crystal up in a good book like The Encyclopedia of Crystals and search around until you are drawn to the right one. Most importantly, always go with what feels right for you.

This Crystal book is is the definitive reference guide to over 300 crystals and stones. The book assumes no previous knowledge and is clear, practical and well organised.

When I started to look for a book about crystals, I wanted a comprehensive compendium that would not only tell me about the individual attributes of each crystal, but explain
how to use the crystal and what each type of crystal should be used for. I came across this book by Judy Hall and I was astounded by the depth of knowledge that
she has and the depth and insight that has been used to create this wonderful book. She takes us through the ‘History of Crystals’ explaining that since the beginning of our
known history crystals have been revered for their powers. An explanation then follows of how crystals are formed and explains the difference between ‘Igneous and metamorphic
crystals’. She then goes on to describe ‘Basic crystal shapes and geometric forms’. Following on she gives vivid descriptions on how to cleanse, activate and maintain
crystals and use crystals for energy enhancement, with a detailed explanation of how to use the correct crystal for Chakra Balancing.
An explanation follows on the use of the book, telling us that all you need to do is ‘look up the crystal in the index at the front of the book or identify it from one
of the illustrations’.
The section of the book that deals with individual crystals has been colour coded, so for instance if you are looking for a green coloured crystal and you don’t know
the correct name, it’s easy to find. Each crystal has a meticulous description accompanied by a full colour photograph,on glossy paper so the colour jumps out at you, the description includes which Chakra it is aligned to, it’s Zodiac sign, what the crystal is beneficial for to name just a few.
This is one of those books that you will keep for a life time, a perfect reference library of crystals.
